With a new album a current work-in-progress, fans of Liz Lenten, and her Lincolnshire troupe Auburn, will have their understandable impatience salved considerably with this taster track.
‘Good To Be Anywhere’ deploys a soothing trippy rhythm over which Liz alternates spoken verses and a sung refrain, appreciative of the joy to be taken in life’s beauty, whether in a greasy truckstop, coffee in a broken cup or an empty beach on a cloudy day, whilst understanding that it may all end suddenly.
Piano, bass, and subtle synth washes set the perfect atmosphere for Liz to articulate both joy and worry with her trademark intimacy, demonstrating her expertise in the difficult art of seeming to address the listener personally.
